I have had a real craving for designing a pair of socks for some time. I have searched, looked and peered at all my stitch dictionaries, cables, lace, ribs, color. I have lists, swatches and notes on all kinds of patterns for socks. But I just can't seem to settle on one or two. I'm sitting here looking through Folk Socks by Nancy Bush and there are a few patterns that are catching my eye and are very inspiring. Knitty has some gorgeous sock patterns. I particularly like Tangled Garden, Falling Leaves, Oh then there are Interweave knit web sock patterns. I really like the textural patterns like the Diagonal Rib Socks and the Web Socks.
But then, going back to my British up bringing. I really enjoy the traditional fair Isle English knitting, like Debbie Bliss made popular again in her children's knitting patterns. There are some fair isle charts on line but these are mostly Norwegian and not the traditional English I'm looking for. Oh, I could chart my own? Do I have time? Em...........? Texture? Color? Verigated? agh! Or do none of the above. Oh those cravings.....
